The Orchard House is a private residence located on an existing apple orchard in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. The Orchard House is a 6000 +/- square foot residence including a garage/guesthouse attached by a covered walkway. Housing Systems, Inc. was hired by the owner to build the house and construction began in November, 2001.

The house was designed by James Estes of Estes/Twombly Architects and consists of red cedar roof shingles, copper valleys and flashings, red cedar side wall shingles, hardwood floors throughout, wood windows and sliding wood doors. All of the carpentry work (rough & finish) was self performed by Housing Systems, Inc. while other phases (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, masonry) were subcontracted out to others and supervised by Housing Systems, Inc. The residence will be completed in June 2002 to the full satisfaction of the owner.
